Kent qualified for the National Finals Rodeo ten times in the Saddle Bronc event. In 1984 he was the Reserve World Champion.

In 1980 Kent scored 93 points in Vernal Utah which was the second highest score of all times. Throughout his career Kent had four 90 plus point rides.

Kent holds the record for the most Saddle Bronc riding titles in the Wilderness Circuit 1976, 1982, 1984-1986, 1989, 1991 and 1993. Those championships mark the longest span between first and last saddle bronc riding titles across all the circuits at 18 years.

Kent was the Saddle Bronc Riding Champion at several Pro rodeos:
Calgary Stampede (twice), Cheyenne Frontier Days, Houston Livestock show and Rodeo, Pendleton Round up, Ft. Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, National Circuit Finals, Coors Rodeo Showdown Finale, Dodge City Round Up, Prescott Frontier Days, St. Paul Oregon, Ellensburg Washington, Caldwell Idaho, Nampa Idaho, Santa Maria Elks Rodeo, The Cow Palace, Rapid City Stock Show and Rodeo just to name a few.
