Heil, Marcella

Class of 2025

Raised along the banks of Idaho’s rivers, Marcella Heil never strayed far from her Idaho roots—whether ranching over 50,000 acres near Marshall Butte or blazing trails in the rodeo world. Alongside her husband Larry, she ran cattle, raised horses, and raised a family deep in the high desert country.
Marcella was a skilled competitor in her own right, entering local and regional rodeos with grit and grace. Her love for the sport began in the saddle and only grew stronger as she later supported her daughters through Little Buckaroo rodeos and jackpots around Buhl.

As director of the Buhl Rodeo Association, she launched the ICA 4th of July Rodeo and helped form the Snake River Barrel Racing Association, bringing jackpot barrel racing to the Magic Valley when local events were scarce. A true pioneer, Marcella introduced the 4-D barrel racing format to Southern Idaho—forever changing the game for jackpot barrel racers across the region.

Over 40 years, she cheered on her kids and grandkids from Idaho to Texas, producing and supporting junior, high school, and college rodeo events, and helping shepherd future rodeo champions into the arena.
Marcella served as a 6th District Director for Idaho High School Rodeo, competed in WSBRAs and ICA rodeos, and represented Idaho at national finals. Her service, leadership, and unwavering love for the western way of life made her a cornerstone of Idaho rodeo.

Congratulations, Marcella—you’ve earned your place among Idaho’s finest. 🤠🏆
