Morton, Hadley

Class of 2025

Born to Jimmy “Curly” and Karen Morton and raised in St. Anthony, Idaho, Hadley Morton was rodeo through and through. From an early age, he was climbing aboard broncs, bulls, and bareback horses—chasing eight seconds with the grit and heart only a true cowboy could carry. Though he spent a stretch in Apache Junction, Arizona, it was the Idaho dust that always called him home. He cowboyed across central Idaho for decades, hanging up his spurs only recently.

Hadley made his mark in the arena as a three-time Saddle Bronc Champion in the Eastern Idaho Rodeo Association, racking up countless wins across Idaho, California, and Arizona. He was a multi-association finals qualifier and was known not just for his success as a rider, but for his leadership outside the chutes. As a past president of the EIRA, Hadley helped usher in breakaway roping—ensuring the sport grew for future generations.

Beyond riding, he earned his stripes as a pickup man, earning “Pickup Man of the Year” honors in the Intermountain Pro Rodeo Association and working their finals multiple times. He had a sharp eye for safety and a steady hand—every bronc rider knew they were in good hands with Hadley in the arena.

The Morton family’s legacy in rodeo ran deep, with Hadley helping run Morton’s Indoor Arena in St. Anthony. There, he hosted weekly rough stock events and bronc riding schools, shaping champions and mentoring young cowboys coming up the ranks. His son Hoke carries on the family name, but Hadley’s influence lives on in every rider who swung a leg over a bronc thanks to his teachings.
