Patti Kaufman

Class of 2020

Patti’s youth was spent going to every playday, gymkhana and junior rodeo that her parents would take her to.
Patti and her Husband Steve moved to Idaho in 1969 and the duo immediately hit the rodeo trail. In 1971 Patti had their first child and was the Idaho Cowboy’s Association Champion Barrel Racer that same year.
Patti raised and trained numerous barrel horses, one thing that stood out about Patti’s barrel horses was that most of them also doubled as excellent rope horses.
Patti was very active in the Idaho Girls Rodeo Association, she won multiple year-end championships in the All- around, barrel racing and team roping. As well as holding multiple offices for that Association.
In 1980 Patti qualified for the Wilderness Circuit Finals Rodeo winning or placing in go arounds, average and the year end.
Competition was not Patti’s only passion when it came to rodeo, she was very active in the administration and promotion of the sport. Throughout the years, Patti served as Barrel Racing Director, Breakaway Roping Director and Association Secretary for the Idaho Cowboys Association. Patti was instrumental in introduction the breakaway roping event into the ICA.
Patti holds Gold card membership in both the IGRA and the ICA Associations.
Patti Stated that the most enjoyable years for her and Steve competing, were those spent going to Senior Pro Rodeos. She loved the atmosphere of the weekend-long rodeos, bonding with friends, roping together and barrel racing.
