Prater, Mike

Class of 2021

Mike started his career in Rodeo watching and traveling with his brother John.
In 1967 Mike got on his first bull because of a dare and the next week he rode seven of the first ten. He was a bull rider!

Mike has been a member of the Idaho Cowboys Association, the Northwest Rodeo Association and the Washington Rodeo Cowboys Association.

Mike made the ICA Finals for 9 years placing at the finals 4 of those years. Mike won 24 rodeos within those three associations. Some of the significant rodeos he won were Roy Washington, The Dalles, Oregon; Asotin Washington; Vale, Oregon; and Homedale, Idaho.

In 1971 Mike split 2nd and 3rd at the Caldwell Night Rodeo and won the Cambridge Idaho Rodeo Bull riding.

Mike was the Bull riding Director for the ICA 3 times.

1983 Mike was leading ICA, NRA, and the WRA when he was injured in Colfax rodeo Bull riding which ended his Bull riding career. He went on to Judge rodeos for several years after his injury.
