Quintana, John

Class of 2022

John Quintana was one of the great rank bull riders of all time, not only claiming the 1972 world championship but breaking the world record for highest scored bull rides twice in the 1970’s. In 1971 he rode V61 in Gladewataer, Tx for 94 points and in 1974 No17 at the Helldorado Days Rodeo in Las Vegas for 96 points. John qualified for the National Finals Rodeo in six consecutive years (1969-1974), winning the gold buckle in 1972. He earned checks in 18 NFR rounds. He won third in the Average at the NFR twice, once in 1969 and again in 1974. Qunintana was quiet and let his actions speak louder than words. His secret to success was a positive outlook.
