Rhoades, Ruth

Class of 2024

Ruth Rhoades, born in Sunrise, Wyoming, grew up immersed in farming and ranching, fostering a deep love for the outdoor life and working with animals. After marrying Floyd Rhoades in 1948, Ruth worked as a bookkeeper and later moved with her family to Milton Freewater, Oregon, and then Nyssa, Oregon. Upon relocating to Caldwell, Idaho in 1969, Ruth became actively involved in her children’s activities, including Rod’s rodeo events and Rhonda’s 4-H projects.

Ruth’s passion for rodeo led her to significant roles in the Idaho rodeo community. She became deeply involved with the Idaho Girls Rodeo Association (IGRA), organizing playdays to fundraise for awards and supporting various rodeo events. Her expertise as a timer was a cornerstone of her involvement, as she served as a timer for the Idaho Cowboys Association (ICA), IGRA, Gem State Rodeo Association (GSRA), Got Milk Junior Rodeo Series, District 2 High School Rodeo, and numerous junior rodeos around the valley.

Ruth continued to contribute to the rodeo scene up until her retirement in 2022, and remains a dedicated supporter by attending rodeo performances and donating to auction fundraisers. Her extensive volunteer work and unwavering support for rodeo make Ruth Rhoades a deserving inductee into the Idaho Rodeo Hall of Fame.
