Zane Davis

Class of 2018

Zane Davis qualified for the National High School Rodeo Finals in five different events, including four Idaho state championships and five state reserve championships. He captured the National High School Rodeo Bareback Riding Championship and Reserve All-Around Championships in 1989.

He won the 1990 National Intercollegiate All-Around Championship while attending the College of Southern Idaho. After serving a two-year church mission in Brazil, Zane returned to C.S.I. and won the 1993 National Intercollegiate All-Around Championship. He was also the 1993 National Intercollegiate Champion Bareback Rider and Reserve Champion Saddle Bronc Rider. During the two years at C.S.I., he won four intercollegiate regional event championships and four regional reserve championships.

Transferring to the University of Nevada-Las Vegas to finish his degree, Zane won four more college regional championships and three reserve championships. He also finished Reserve National Intercollegiate Bull Riding and All-Around Champion in 1994.

Zane was the NFR Opening Ceremonies Coordinator from 1998 to 2005. He also scripted and coordinated the opening ceremonies for the Pro Rodeo Tour Cup Finals and two FEI World Cup championships during this period.

Zane was taken away from his rodeo production work when he started training reined cow horses in 2004. As a self-taught trainer, he claimed the events top championship by winning the 2009 NRCHGA Snaffle Bit Futurity. He has had 16 Futurity finalists in the last eight years, become one the Association’s few Million Dollar Riders, and recently won the Reserve Championship at the 2017 Snaffle Bit Futurity. He has also been a limited finalist and open semi-finalist at the National Cutting Horse Futurity.

With his wife, Holly, daughters Zayle and Presely, and son Dawson, Zane lives in Blackfoot, ID. There he operates his training business. His daughter Zayle was the 2017 Idaho State Girls All-Around Champion.
